Thoughts from Dan Miser RSS 2.0

After a year off from BorCon, I'll be back this year again. I'll be presenting a couple of topics: "Win32 WebServices" and "Multi-tier Applications in .NET for Delphi Programmers". The "Win32 WebServices" talk will focus on using and writing web services with Delphi 7. The Multi-tier talk will cover how to create a multi-tier application in .NET. There will be some analogies between DataSnap and ADO.NET, with a dash of Remoting how-to.
Please feel free to email me or leave comments if there are aspects of these topics that you would like to see covered. Hope to see you there!

What good is a multi-tiered application? I'm assuming you're talking about one where the business object/logic, database access, and application is separated.

How does a multi-tiered application apply, in a network situation, when the network is unstable?

In a scenario where a few hundred machines with the same application running, need to talk to a database on the network, and when the network is sometimes unavailable, what good is separating everything? Just lump it all into one monolithic EXE!

There's *nothing* like Dan Miser talking about MIDAS! If you

aren't there, you're missing out.

Dan,

Will your Multi Tier presentation be a "Multi Tier in .NET for Datasnap developers" session? I ask because we currently are looking at the new .NET paradigm for Multi Tier(.NET Remoting) and it would be great to see how to transform application from datasnap to .NET.
